I'm Back.

Obviously, I have taken a break. A long break.

I have to admit, that I am way less motivated to blog when Aaron's home because he doesn't need me to post daily updates. He's gone again, but he's not really in harm's way, and I can talk to him almost any time I want.

But, Julie posted about her Pandora bracelet, and it made me realize that I want to keep a running record of my beads, and what better place to do it than here??

So, I am going to TRY to get back in the saddle...

Check Up.

We went for Caroline's second year check-up. As you know, we've had an eventful week, so the doctor checked her stitches (they're fine and healing perfectly) and said that she didn't think that Caroline suffered any injuries from her car accident.

Most importantly, here are her stats:
Weight: 35 lbs., 14 oz. (+97th%ile...shocking)
Height: 37 inches (+97th%ile...again, shocking)
Head Circumference: 19.25 inches (80th%ile)

Blog Updates.

Two major changes:

1. I changed the background to match the theme of Caroline's birthday party this weekend.

2. I've removed the clock that displayed the "time on the other side of the world." I don't need it anymore.

My Goal was 2.

Well, one of my long-time goals has not been reached. Just 6 short days from her birthday, my baby had to get stitches. Whenever she is playing and being rough and tumbly, I always jokingly say, "Caroline, no stitches until you're two!"

Caroline picked up one of Molly's glass bowls when we were out at Grammy's (or is it Mimi?) house, and she dropped it on the tile floor. It broke into a million little pieces, and I instantly saw blood. By the time I could get a good look, there was so much blood, I couldn't really see anything.

So, we loaded up the car and headed to Children's Close-to-Home. Again. Of course, Caroline was crying, and I asked her if she wanted music, and she said yes. Ironically, when we turned on the radio, "Keep Bleeding" by Leona Lewis was playing. It was slightly funny.

Once we got checked in and triaged, Caroline had to get x-rays to make sure there wasn't any glass remaining in her hand. In her words, "hand say cheese."
You can see the injury if you really know where you're looking. Look at the bottom of her pointer finger where it meets her hand. When she was cleared, they came to stitch her up. She did *really* well. She cried, but she was really still. The whole time she was announcing, "I'm done. I'm done." Six stitches and a pink popsicle later, we were done and headed home!

Beach Pictures.

Caroline is really enjoying her time at the beach! She loves the sand and the water. More to come, but here are a couple to get started:

Scooping sand. (Look how blue the water was this day!)

Playing in the water and letting the waves roll in.
Showing off one of her found "treasures."

Running away from the water.
And, last but not least, she decided to get all 10 toes painted!!

The Portable DVD Player.

I've always been relatively neutral on the idea of DVD players in the car. I figured that I would probably allow my kids to watch movies on long car rides, but not on the daily errands around town.

Well, we are leaving on vacation tomorrow, and I borrowed a DVD player from Bob & Lori to see if it would help occupy Caroline during our looooooong journey. I installed it during her nap this afternoon.

We had to run to the grocery store, and she asked what it was. I tried to explain that it was to watch "shows" while we drive to the beach. Um, yeah, she's (almost) 2, so that didn't go over so well. I caved, and I let her watch on the ride to the store.

Do you think it will help?
We will definitely be taking it out after vacation! I think it's baby crack!

Summer Wear; Toddler Style!

Here's Caroline ready for the day! Yes, it's June 29th. Yes, I had to work today, and it was the only way I could get out the door this morning!

I always knew this day would come, but I didn't think it would be so soon!

The Weekend.

Caroline spent her first night away from home this weekend! Here she is arriving at my mom's. As you can see, she was totally phased and freaking out:
As far as MY weekend, it was spent with my mother-in-law and my two sisters-in-law.

Tomboy? Girly-Girl?

My phone rang at 8:15 this morning. It was my mom informing me that a digger had just arrived on her street, and their neighbors are going to be getting a new driveway today. We honestly didn't have any plans for the day, so we loaded up and headed over.

We watched the digger, the scooper, and the dump truck. Then, Caroline ran back to Grandma's house, and she wanted to get her dry erase board and markers. As we walked out of the garage, she decided she also needed her hat. (It's an Easter bonnet from the dollar bin at Target.)

She was wearing her bonnet and using the dry erase board. She turned around to look at my mom and me, and she had black marker all over her lips. She turned back around and kissed the board! I have no idea what she was doing; this is a first!

So, here she is sporting the bonnet and watching the diggers with black marker all over her face!

One Fish, Two Fish...

Caroline spent some quality time at the pool this weekend! It was quite fun! We started out in the baby pool. Bella got to go, too, and Dada called while we were playing! Then, we moved into the big pool, and the girl-with-no-fear, had no problem jumping right in, and wanted to do everything herself.

Then, we had watermelon. What? This isn't how you eat your watermelon???
