The Portable DVD Player.

I've always been relatively neutral on the idea of DVD players in the car. I figured that I would probably allow my kids to watch movies on long car rides, but not on the daily errands around town.

Well, we are leaving on vacation tomorrow, and I borrowed a DVD player from Bob & Lori to see if it would help occupy Caroline during our looooooong journey. I installed it during her nap this afternoon.

We had to run to the grocery store, and she asked what it was. I tried to explain that it was to watch "shows" while we drive to the beach. Um, yeah, she's (almost) 2, so that didn't go over so well. I caved, and I let her watch on the ride to the store.

Do you think it will help?
We will definitely be taking it out after vacation! I think it's baby crack!

I was always opposed to the in-car DVD player, and I still say I wouldn't get a car with the *permanent* kind...but I don't think we'll ever travel without the portable set again!

I think I might need one...or two.

The van we bought already had the in-car type and we love it. Johnny is only allowed to watch on long road trips because like you said it is not necessary to watch a movie to simply drive to the store. We have used the portable in the past and that was great too. Have fun on your trip!!

Kelly got one for her trip here... best investment she ever made! How did we travel without them? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
